If you’ve been following my journey, then you know my husband and I built a new home in 2019. We hired an interior design firm, paid them in full and then the pandemic happened. We haven’t heard from those designers since then. They took our money and ran.

The worst part was they were planning to refurbish my sons bedroom furniture. They took everything and never returned it which left us with no bed, dresser or anything except a crib mattress for Jedidiah’s bedroom. We were torn.

I knew we’d eventually have to start designing Jedi’s room because we lost all faith and trust in designers. I was scrolling on Instagram and came across Dayna Bolden’s son’s nursery. I kept scrolling and fell in love with her daughter, Aria’s room. When I discovered most of the furniture was from Pottery Barn Kids, I went straight to their website.

The biggest thing that stood out to me was the FREE design services. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. We paid a lot of money for an interior design firm to do what Pottery Barn Kids was willing to do at no cost. I was shocked.

I reached out to PBK and sure enough this was no joke. I hopped on a call with them and they explained how the Design process works. I was already intrigued by the idea, but the deal was sealed once it was confirmed that someone from the PBK design team would create a custom design for my sons playroom and bedroom based on my Pinterest inspiration.

Pottery Barn Kids came to the rescue. Now everyone keeps asking if it’s worth it. I shared the step by step design process and experience with our designer here.

But….. I felt it was also good to provide you with 10 reasons why it’s worth your while to go with Pottery Barn Kids design services.

Let’s get into it!!!!

1. It’s FREE

First off, why you turn down an offer for FREE interior design services? You can check every single one of your favorite Instagram interior designers, tap the link in their bio and I can 100% guarantee you’re going to have to pay for a consultation. One of my favorites charges a minimum of $500 for a 30 minute consult. This is not the case with Pottery Barn Kids. It’s FREE-99. I know it’s crazy to get caught up in the hype of what every influencer is doing. I’ll be honest… Most of the influencers I follow decorated their playrooms and nurseries with furniture from PBK anyway. You may as well achieve the same look or even better with their design team. It’s super easy to schedule a consultation. Schedule here.

2. Save Money & Stick With Your Budget

Obviously, you’re already saving money with the complimentary interior design services. But if you’re someone who has attempted a DIY home decor project that you ended up hating, then you know what it feels like when you can’t return those damaged or used goods. I’m sure you can relate to making loads of design mistakes and then forgetting to return those items you’re probably never going to use. Design mistakes can be costly, however they can be avoided when you get free help from reputable professionals.

Also, I’m sure you already have a budget in mind and you want to stick with it. I don’t blame you. If you’re anything like me, then you’re not willing to splurge on a toddler bedroom or playroom. When you work with the Pottery Barn Kids Design Crew, they’ll stick with your budget and provide insight into their most affordable best sellers and sales.

3. Save Time & Avoid The Stress

Don’t get me started on the number of Pinterest boards I created and countless hours spent on Instagram trying to find the perfect design for Jedidiah’s playroom and bedroom. While I love all of the inspiration, sometimes too many options can be extremely overwhelming. Plus, there were a few arguments with my husband. LOL!

When we started working with Shawn Phaby (our PBK designer), we no longer had to worry about the details. You may be a mom with a full time gig and a side hustle trying to balance everything. It’s A LOT of work to plan and design a space then piece it all together with all the other things you do. Why not get the help you need? You don’t have to do it alone.

4. Define Your Unique Style

I’ll keep referencing back to Pinterest because I’m sure we all have loads of boards with so many images and a variety of different styles. I had so much on my board, it got the point where my husband asked, “Babe, what look are we even going for?”

The Pottery Barn Kids Design Crew takes time to listen, learn and look at all of your inspiration. From there, they’ll help you create a look that’s custom to your child and their personality. The purpose of having a designer is not so you can recreate the same look you found online. It’s to create something unique for your space.

5. A Trained Eye

One thing I truly desired for my son’s playroom and bedroom was a timeless vibe. There are so many trendy designs out there, but what good is it to go with something that’s trendy if it won’t be in style in a year?

Part of a professional interior designers job is to know the industry and what’s going to give you a the best bang for your buck. PBK designers have a trained eye for creating the most beautiful spaces for children. Take advantage of their expertise. I was SO excited when I told Shawn we were considering homeschool. She knew the best layout options for Jedi’s playroom based on our homeschool desires.

6. Unique Ideas

We gave very little input for Jedi’s bedroom. We pretty much allowed our designer from PBK to run with her ideas. She created a few options for us and we agreed to what she selected. We had a more traditional vibe originally and she proposed we go for something more modern because it matched the tone of our entire home. We were very happy with the shift.

If you’re someone who loves to get ideas and input from others, then don’t rely on your friends who aren’t designers. Talk to the design crew at PBK and they can create an inspiration board for you.

7. Virtual or In-Person Options Available

When you work with Pottery Barn Kids, you get the chance to virtually connect with a designer before your project gets started. I specifically requested someone in Dallas just in case we needed the person to come over (which she did). The first initial meeting is awesome because it gives you the chance to really jam with one another.

Once you meet your designer, you’re not limited on the number of times you two meet. We had a total of 3 virtual meetings and 3 in person meetings for the installation and to double check measurements. All of this for FREE. Let me also add, she wore her mask and gloves and we made sure to social distance during her visits.

8. A Custom Shopping List

Working with the PBK design crew was almost like white glove service. I was asked to pick out my favorite items, but their design board was better than mine (of course)! Once I agreed on the design, they organized a list for me to review and asked if I wanted additional items. I confirmed what I wanted and they placed the order. The entire process was like a DONE FOR YOU SERVICE. There are design firms that charge thousands of dollars for this type of service, yet PBK is willing to provide this service to moms and dads to take a huge load off their plates.

It’s really that simple.

9. Wow Factor

I know how wowed I’ve been just from scrolling through my favorite influencers Instagram pages who’ve used Pottery Barn Kids to furnish their kiddos rooms. I’m sure you’re pretty impressed with how Jedi’s playroom and big boy room turned out. If you’re hoping to get the WOW factor, you already know who to call.

10. A Finished Project

Are you the person who still hasn’t decorated your child’s bedroom because you just can’t find the time? Or maybe you’re like me and you bought a few things for their room, but it just isn’t coming together the way you hoped. This was me. I was fed up and tired of Jedi sleeping in our bed. We tried to do it on our own and it got us nowhere.

He deserved his own space and bed to sleep in. Finally, we have provided him that by completing his bedroom with the help of Pottery Barn Kids. The peace of mind that comes with finishing a home project for your child feels great especially if it involves you getting more sleep at night.

I hope you found this blog post helpful. Most importantly, I hope you’ll ditch the overwhelm of trying to design your child’s space and use the Pottery Barn Kids Design Crew to help you create the space of your dreams.
